Within Eventsforce Mobile is a feature that allows attendees to interact with event organizers by asking questions. The Q&A feature gives attendees the ability to submit questions during sessions or for the entirety of the event.  The event organizer can control whether questions are automatically approved or must be viewed and approved by a moderator before appearing on the Q&A page. Attendees can ‘upvote’ questions they may also want to know the answer to.

By default, questions submitted by attendees will display the attendee’s name who asked the question, and the question will be visible to other attendees on the “Q&A” page. There are two settings that can be enabled by the attendee within the app when adding questions:

  • Private - The question will not be displayed to other attendees in the question thread. Only the moderator can see the question and respond.

  • Anonymous - Question will be posted to the thread, but the attendee’s name will not be displayed

Enabling the ‘Ask question’ feature

Take the steps below to enable this functionality within your Eventsforce mobile app:

  1. Login to the Mobile Content Manager (MCM) and select your event

  2. Click the “Event Setup” module

  3. Visit the “Ask question” tab

  4. Enable the question settings as needed

  5. Click “Save”

There are four settings that you can select from the settings page:

  • Ask Question for overall event - Q&A option appears on the ‘Event info’ page for questions to be asked relating to the overall event

  • Ask Question for all sessions - Q&A option appears within each session for questions to be asked relating to the individual session

  • Questions need to be approved by moderator - Requires the moderator to login and approve the question before it will appear on the question list to attendees

  • Authentication Required - Requires attendees to be logged into the app to submit questions. We recommend that this setting is left unchecked for most events.

Ask Question for overall event

With this setting enabled, attendees will have the ability to ask questions related to the overall event.  Attendees can submit their questions as ‘Private’ and/or ‘Anonymous’. If enabled, a moderator will need to login using the ‘moderator access code’ and approve the question. Moderators will also have the option to reply, edit, or delete the question.

Follow the steps below to sign in as an attendee to submit event questions:

  1. From the mobile app, click the “Event Info” module

  2. Select the “Q&A” link

  3. Select “Add Question”

  4. Specify whether the question should be ‘Private’ and/or ‘Anonymous’

  5. Enter your question into the text box

  6. Click “Post”

Note: In the example above, a moderator is not required to approve the question. When a moderator must approve the question, the question will not appear on the page until approved.

If the setting “Questions need to be approved by moderator” is enabled, moderators will have to approve the question before it will appear on the question list. See more information in the “Managing questions as a moderator” section below.

If the setting “Questions need to be approved by moderator” is not enabled, the question will appear on the Q&A page to all attendees.

Ask Question for all sessions

With this setting enabled, attendees will have the ability to ask questions related to each session in your program.  Attendees can submit their questions as ‘Private’ and/or ‘Anonymous’. If enabled, a moderator will need to login using the ‘moderator access code’ and approve the question. Moderators will also have the option to reply, edit, or delete the question.

Follow the steps below to sign in as an attendee to submit session questions:

  5. Specify whether the question should be ‘Private’ and/or ‘Anonymous’

  6. Enter your question into the text box

Note: In the example above, a moderator is not required to approve the question. When a moderator must approve the question, the question will not appear on the page until approved.

Moderator Access Code

Event organizers can require questions be approved by a moderator before they are displayed on the Q&A page to all attendees. When the “Questions need to be approved by a moderator” setting is enabled, a ‘Moderator access code’ will be added to the prospective sections. The moderator access code for the event can be customized while the moderator access codes for each individual session are fixed.

The overall event ‘Moderator access code’ can be found by taking the steps below:

  1. Go to the “Event Setup” module in the MCM

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the ‘Setup’ tab

  3. Find the “Moderator access code” and customize as needed

  4. Click “Save”

The session ‘Moderator access code’ can be found by taking the steps below:

  1. Go to the “Sessions” module within the MCM

  2. Click to “Edit” a sessions

  3. Scroll down to find the “Moderator Access Code” (each session has a unique moderator access code)

Managing questions as a moderator

If requiring questions to be approved by a moderator, moderators can login using the ‘Moderator Access Code’ and reply, edit, delete, or approve questions. The event organizer must provide the moderator codes to the moderators.

A moderator can sign in by taking the following steps:

  1. Open the event app on your device

  2. Visit the “Event Info” module for overall event questions OR visit the “Sessions” module and select a session for session questions

  3. Select the “Q&A” link

  4. Click “Moderator Login” at the top

  5. Enter the appropriate “Moderator Access Code” (not case-sensitive)

  6. View the questions and choose to “Reply”, “Edit”, “Delete”, or “Approve” the question

Note: Approved questions will be displayed to other attendees viewing the Q&A page within the app.
