The registration process can be customized to only show attendees questions that apply to them. Providing a specific answer to one question can trigger other questions to appear using the "dependent" setting. Text blocks can also be made dependent based on question answers.

A common situation is having a drop-down type question with "Other" as an option. If "Other" is selected, you may want a follow up question asking to "Please specify".

Dependent questions can only be set up against a single answer. It is not possible to show a dependent question based on more than one answer to a parent question.

Note: A parent question (question with dependent questions or text blocks linked to it) cannot be deleted until the dependent setting for questions/text have been removed. Read more about removing dependent settings.

Making a question dependent

Both the 'parent' question and 'dependent' question should be set up in the system before following the steps below:

  1. Go to Website > Content > Registration Pages

  2. Click to "Edit" the registration page containing your question

  3. Hover over the 'edit' icon for the question that should be dependent on another and select "Edit"

  4. Locate the "Only show this item if..." drop-down and choose the 'parent' question, then choose the answer that will trigger this question

  5. Click "Save"

When a question is dependent, you will see a 'chain link' icon to the left of the 'edit' icon.  You can see which question is the 'parent' question by hovering over the icon.
